Baker’s Motel now has a nice 1500 square foot antique shop where guests can easily walk to on the property as it is located in the middle building providing easy access from both parts of the motel. Our new antique shop offers many antiques, collectibles, primitives and so much more. All items are neatly organized for you convenience, you can spend alot of time looking over the many items that we carry.
Our new antique shop is appropriately name Norwich Antiques & More, the shop is air-conditioned and quite nice. Travelers and guest alike will enjoy looking through the many antiques, collectibles and more that we carry and are continually updating. Plan a weekend at Baker’s Motel and enjoy the cleanest rooms in Muskingum County offering a step back that no where else can offer as all of the other properties are newer cookie cutter properties and we have almost 80 years satisfying our guests.
Additionally you can view many other antique shops, pottery shops, fleas markets and more with in a mile of the motel, plus the Zane Grey Museum is directly across the street.
We have been busy this past month updating our rooms, this year we have started with our rooms with one bed. Rooms 24 -30 and two bed rooms 49-62 have all been updated with new furniture and beds, all updates are completed for this year.
Of course with all of the updates that we continue to do our guests really like our rooms and always love the wireless connection speeds that they have here. As we do pretty much every year we have been updating all of our linens again in preparation for a busy year.
We have also redone the office this year with new flooring, lights, paint and other updates.
We have done so far:
Added 21 rooms of new furniture, 14 two bed rooms and 7 one bed rooms. Furniture in all but 6 rooms is now new, the remaining 6 rooms the original furniture is in near mint condition so we kept it.
New beds in most rooms
New entry lighting in all rooms with 2 beds are now installed.
New Curtains in all rooms.
Removed all shower doors in all 2 bed rooms, now all have nice shower curtains.
Parking lot was resealed, now 3 years old.
Added many new fridges and microwaves.
All Extended Stay One Bed Rooms – 32″ Flat Screens
Replaced the remaining one bed rooms with 32″ flat screens and the remaining 2 bed rooms with 40″ flat screens, they look and work great. The new wall mounts will enable you to view the tv from anywhere in the room.
We have made so many great updates in 2015 that our guests will definitely enjoy their stay at Baker’s Motel and we look forward to providing you the best value for your dollar at the most historic motel on the National Road serving customers since 1937. Our motel is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week though we do not answer the phone after 11 pm at night as we do have to sleep though when you come in simply ring the doorbell to get a room. March of 2015 will mark the 35th year that my family has owned the motel.
What does Baker’s Motel offer that other local properties do not?
A quiet country setting, no other property in Guernsey or Muskingum County offers this.
Large Family Rooms – Our rooms with two beds are the largest in both counties and we have done alot of upgrading on this building also, though we still have the same paneling but what we have updated is the air-conditioning, Flat-screen televisions, most faucets are new, all carpet recently replaced, all painted recently, bed spreads, pillows and linens also are newer.
Family owned and operated – My wife and I have owned and operated the property for over 30 years.
Large Antique Shop on premise – No other properties offer this.
Unlike many properties if you encounter something that does not work we fix it, so you can enjoy you stay unlike most other properties that offer a discount upon leaving. Say you rent a room and the air-conditioning is not working you at the chain you normally get to enjoy the room without ac, not at Baker’s we have spare new units, though most of ours are already newer units.
Fall is over and winter is here, most of the other properties still have their rates to over $100. per night for a one bed room and much higher for larger rooms but at Baker’s you can stay for just under half of that for one bed and probably about half also of what they charge on the two bed rooms. Grant it some of the properties are pretty new but if what you are looking is a clean and updated room with a fridge and microwave, wireless internet, color tv, and a comfortable country setting and rooms that are very quiet then stay with us.
What is new in 2014 at Baker’s Motel?

Many updates are back end so you will not really notice.
